I am a graduate student working under the direction of Dr. Thomas Taylor with a primary research focus in paleomycology. I am particularly interested in describing and understanding fungal development of the Permian and Triassic of Antarctica. I am also interested in how fossil fungi may have played a role in the course of plant evolution. I utilize thin sections in my research in order to show a three dimensional view of fungal growth in fossils. My research is not only limited to fossil fungi, but also other microorganisms such as protists and algae. By looking at all these components we can begin to interpret the intricate relationships of both plant-fungal and microorganismal interactions in paleoecosystems.
