Taro Eldredge is a doctoral student in the lab of Andrew Short.  He studies the ecology, evolutionary history, and biodiversity of rove beetles.

Research:

My research interests lie in the biology of Aleocharinae rove beetles.  In particular, I am interested in the intersection between an organisms's phenotype and its form and function in the context of ecology and evolutionary history.  Furthermore, I am interested in how particular phenotypes may have had macroevolutionary implications in the history of aleocharine diversification.  To address this, I currently study the earliest divergences among aleocharines, which are disproportionately taxonomically depauperate, in an attempt to discover a driver for this pattern of diversity.
