Myths & Mayhem Film Series: Kingdom of the Spiders

Calling all William Shatner fans: the next film in our Myths and Mayhem film series will be "Kingdom of the Spiders" (1977), in which a swarm of huge tarantulas, enraged by the misuse of pesticides, overrun a small town. The movie will be shown Oct. 24 at 6:30 in the Panorama Gallery. Scientific commentary about spiders will be provided by KU Professor Deb Smith. Free popcorn provided. Notes Rotten Tomatoes: "Unstylishly directed by John Cardos and produced with a sense of humor by 'Arachnid Productions,' -- and despite bad dialogue, wooden acting and poor special effects -- Kingdom of the Spiders has become a cult classic and favorite of several generations of giant insect horror film buffs."
