Since September 2008, Laura has been providing data cleaning and data publishing support, including software installation and configuration, to institutions with biodiversity specimen collections to bring them into the vertebrate collections network (VertNet). Recently, she has begun working with the Integrated Digitized Biocollections (iDigBio) to do the same. She maintains a close relationship with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) to ensure accessibility to data and she works with all three groups on ways to improve the quality of the data and advance the technological infrastructures for sharing and using data online for research.  Additionally, through outreach activities, she shares knowledge with other communities in the interest of growing the content and quality of biodiversity data available online.
