VertNet Programmer
Contact Information
I provide software installation (DiGIR, TAPIR, IPT), configuration and support to institutions with biodiversity specimen collections to bring them into the vertebrate collections network (VertNet) which includes the portals for MaNIS, HerpNET, ORNIS and FishNet. My position is funded by the National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII) at the University of Kansas, Biodiversity Institute. Through VertNet, I maintain a close relationship with both NBII and the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) to ensure accessibility to data. I am working with both groups and with the guidance of our steering committee and software developers on ways to improve the quality of the data and advance the technological infrastructures for sharing and using data online for research. Additionally, through outreach activities, I share our knowledge with other communities in the interest of growing the content and quality of biodiversity data available online.
