L. L. Dyche Images Part of Spencer Exhibit

The Spencer Art Museum is offering a teaching exhibition in the White Gallery entitled "Knowing the Arctic: Lewis L. Dyche, Western Science, and Indigenous Knowledge." The exhibit, which is on display until March 20, was prepared by students in the KU IGERT program and includes images provided by Lewis Lindsay Dyche. Dyche was an explorer, naturalist and scientist who led several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 1800s.

The exhibition preceeds a workshop in Alaska on incorporating traditional knowledge and interdisciplinary science to understand climate change in the Arctic. IGERT participant and Biodiversity Institute researcher Hanna Owens, a doctoral candidate in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, will attend the workshop.
