Jennifer C. Giron Duque

Graduate student
Haworth Hall, room 6002

Jennifer is a doctoral student in the lab of Andrew Short.

She is interested in the morphology, taxonomy, phylogeny, systematics, biodiversity, and biogeography of Neotropical beetles.

Research:

I'm studying how particular morphological characters vary in relation to the ecological niche that water scavenger beetles occupy, as a way to reconstruct the evolutionary history of niche shifting and diversification of acidocerine hydrophilids. Phylogeny, systematics, ecology, and distributions will be considered in order to tackle these questions.
In the process of unveiling the evolutionary history of acidocerines and their niche shifts, we are producing taxonomic and descriptive studies.
I am also interested in the taxonomy, systematics, and diversity of Neotropical broad-nosed weevils.
