Science on Tap: Solving the riddle of cancer, now and in the future

Dr. Bryan Smith
With the completed sequence of the human genome, scientists are now able to decipher the specific mutations in genes that can lead to cancer. Armed with this knowledge, researchers are synthesizing novel drugs that directly target and kill cancer cells, while avoiding the side effects seen with traditional chemotherapy. For this Science on Tap, biochemist Dr. Bryan Smith will discuss traditional cancer therapies and the new drugs that are being developed to directly target certain cancers.
