Join museum staff during our virtual camp week to learn from home various forensic science techniques including forensic entomology, forensic botany, and more! Updates for this camp will be posted here. Be sure to check out all of our Science Summer Camps in June.

This is a free, online camp – all you need is a computer and an internet connection. 

JUNE 1 (week of) - Instructional guides for Forensic Fun are posted below, so you can review the activities before camp begins. These are posted in order of the camp activities schedule.  See June 8 below for the full online camp schedule.

JUNE 8 - Camp begins at 10am Central Standard Time and runs through 2pm with breaks throughout.
Connect with museum education and outreach staff online on our Facebook page for all the fun! We'll share new camp videos every hour on Facebook with fun learning experiences and activities. Please share photos of your camp-at-home experience with us via social media or by emailing pics to us at biodiversity@ku.edu

10:30am - DNA Part 1

HOUR 2 - FORENSIC BOTANY
11am - Forensic Botany
11:15am - Pollen Study
11:30am - Seed Dispersal: Animal, External Transport & Water
11:45am - Seed Dispersal: Wind & Heat

HOUR  3 - ATOMIC MASS  & FORENSIC ENTOMOLOGY (BUGS!)
12:15pm - Atomic Mass
12:45pm - Firensic Entomology

HOUR 4 - CHROMATOGRAPHY & CONCLUSION
1pm - Chromatography
1:45pm DNA Part 2 & Conclusion

June 15 (week of) - We'll answer questions on Facebook and share any photos campers have sent in!
