KU STUDENTS - WELCOME TO THE KU NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM!
Get involved with the KU Natural History Museum! The museum is free for KU students and is a great place to take a break, find inspiration, explore the natural history of the planet, attend an event or volunteer!
Students enjoy free admission to the museum. Stop by and explore four floors of exhibits, from fascinating fossils to live animals, dioramas, photography and more. Spend a few minutes on your break or spend the day and explore it all! The museum's centerpiece exhibit is the Panorama, an iconic exhibit that was part of the 1893 World’s Fair, and which led to the contruction of Dyche Hall, where the museum is housed. We feature many modern exhibits too which showcase the research of our scientists who work in labs at museum and all across campus. Come find your favorite exhibit!
STUDENT GROUP - NATURAL SCIENCE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION
Get involved with the museum by exploring your creativity - join our student group, the Natural Science Community Organization (NSCO). NSCO KU’s mission is to ignite a passion for natural sciences through education and outreach for students of the University of Kansas and the surrounding community. NSCO hosts two signature events for students each year: Macabre at the Museum (around Halloween), and Sexy Science (around Valentine’s Day), plus additional events like science-oriented movie nights. NSCO student members also volunteer to help facilitate hands-on science activities during a variety of public programs at the museum. Student members get special behind-the-scenes tours and access to unique research-related volunteer opportunities at the KU Biodiversity Institute & Natural History Museum!
