Story Book Science - Fearless World Traveler: Adventures of Marianne North, Botanical Artist

Story Book Science returns on Saturday, February 12, to explore the life of Victorian innovator and botanical artist, Marianne North. The KU Natural History Museum’s Education Coordinator, Colleen MacGilvray, will do two readings of the book "Fearless World Traveler: Adventures of Marianne North, Botanical Artist" on Saturday, February 12 at 10:30am and 11:30am. The book is written by Laurie Lawlor and illustrated by Becca Stadtlander.
Visitors may also explore topics from the book with specimens and hands-on activities until 12:00pm with the museum’s Public Education team, such as investigating plant specimens, modeling how insects get trapped in carnivorous pitcher plants, and more!
The reading and activities are targeted towards children between the ages of 4 and 8 and their adults, although all are welcome!
Readings are at 10:30am and 11:30am. Specimens and activities are available between 10:30am and 12:00pm.
NOTE: At least one adult must be present with children throughout the duration of the reading.
This event is free and will be held in-person. KU COVID protocols will be followed, including masks required for all persons two years or older. Registration for the event is not required.
