Molecular Genetics Lab

The KU Biodiversity Institute’s Molecular Genetics Laboratory is where a diverse group of researchers conduct state of the art genetic analyses to document biodiversity, investigate its evolution, and advance its conservation. The Molecular Genetics Laboratory is a shared-use core facility that is available for use by KU investigators, postdocs, and students. The laboratory is distributed across three rooms on the fifth floor of Dyche Hall (the KU Natural History Museum) in the heart of KU’s hilltop campus.

The laboratory offers resources and equipment for conducting cutting edge molecular genetic analyses, including PCR amplification for Sanger and next-gen sequencing of DNA, extraction of DNA from both contemporary and ancient samples, genomic library preparation, quantification and quality assessment of DNA, and fragment analysis.
