Research

Dr. Jensen’s particular specialty is in aspects of the host-parasite system involving elasmobranchs and their tapeworms. Research in her laboratory addresses issues such as (1) taxonomy and systematics of elasmobranchs tapeworms, particularly those of batoids; (2) elasmobranch tapeworm biodiversity globally, with particular emphasis in the Indo-Pacific Ocean; (3) higher level phylogenetic relationships of cestodes; (4) elasmobranch cestode host specificity, life-cycles, and pathology; and (5) parasite co-evolution.
