KU Researchers collaborate on openVertebrate Project


LAWRENCE — For six years, a team of researchers from 18 different institutions has worked on increasing the impact and accessibility of vertebrate scientific collections through 3D imaging. Thanks to their dedication, over 13,000 specimens are available online for free on the openVertebrate Project database (oVert).

A summary of the collaborative project was recently published in BioScienceand features a group of co-authors, which includesBiodiversity Institute and Natural History Museum Emeritus Collection Manager of Ornithology Mark Robbins and former Collection Manager of Herpetology Luke Welton.
